Live fit phase 1

I just finished phase one of Jamie Eason’s live fit trainer. I am doing so much better with the meals this time around (a little less than perfect yesterday where I battled with a chocolate Santa in my fridge….and Santa won…hey, it happens!) But otherwise my macros have been pretty spot on!
My weight is higher than usually but I hope it’s water and muscle. I have not done any cardio in months…I know I’m going to bite my tongue in a week, by  I’m kind of excited to start cardio again! I’m feeling “fluffy” so I’m ready to start leaning out! I will have about 2 weeks of phase 2 under my belt by the time I have my first wedding dress fitting. I gotta find some shoes…stat!
I need to remember to take progress pics this time. I may just add my phase 1 pic to this post.
😉
I’ve been working like a mad woman getting the invitations done.  I’m sure I could enlist some help but I am sort of a control freak about it and everyone would hate me when we were done.
Thanks for reading! If you are doing the trainer….let me know!

Supplements!

Supplements have been a part of my life for the past few years. Although some have changed, I will never stop taking them because they are so essential! I feel that they really do make a difference in my health and in my training. Here is a list of my “stack.”

Protein: Gold Standard 100% Whey:
I love this stuff! I drink it, bake with it, sprinkle it on my yogurt. It’s so versatile and is great for muscle recovery. I put as least amount if water possible when I drink it because its kinda gross if its watery.

Multi vitamin: Shakeology:
I also love this stuff! Not only does it act as a multi vitamin, it’s also a probiotic and gives me energy without any stimulants. It’s amazing as a shake but I also like to turn it into “pudding.” Since I started shakeology my tummy troubles have vanished and my weight has been more stable. I usually have it for meal 4 or 6 for the day. If I have it before bed I wake up with energy and that never used to happen!

Pre-Workout: Alphamine
My fiancé recently got this stuff and I have to say, it’s pretty great! I feel like pre-workouts help me to stay focused during my workouts. I think I have ADD and get easily distracted so this stuff helps me lift heavier and work out longer.

Recovery: vitamin shoppe glutamine:
I try mixing this with my shakes but it’s also fine in water and dissolves well. It does seem to help me recover faster from workouts. Sometimes my legs are sore for days! This speeds up the process a bit.

Fish oil: GNC triple strength fish oil:
I recently added this supplement just because the live fit trainer suggested it. I am so glad I have. I have noticed my hair is shinier and I just feel better over all. My joints are also leas achey, especially my knee. One negative is that they lie about the fishy burps!

Calcium: GNC be-balanced bone strengthening calcium:
This is like my “candy” for breakfast. I don’t drink milk so I need to get my calcium from somewhere. I know this is important while weight training.

Hair skin and nails: GNC Biotin 5000:
I began taking this religiously when we got engaged. I have noticed it mostly in my hair. It’s grown probably 6 inches in a year. Amazing… Because my hair grows so slow! My nails break still but it’s probably because I can’t stop picking at them! 😉

Sleep: GNC Melatonin 3mg
I get the best sleep with this stuff. Sleep is also important for muscle development so I am going to make sure I always get quality sleep. I try to only take it on work nights.

Moral of the story: take your supplements! If you take them at the same time every day it becomes ingrained in your daily routine.

What are your favorite supplements?

New year…new plan

Holy smokes!!! It’s January?? Where does the time go.
It is officially crunch time with this wedding! I’m totally feeling the stress because soon vendors will need money and people will be demanding things from me. I am not completely freaked out yet…but I’m on the verge!!

Before New Years I was debating on what workout program to start. I decided to go with the Jamie EasonLive Fit program. I do plan to do body beast this year but I felt this was right for before the wedding and I know what to expect. I’m on day 11 (tomorrow) and so far so good!! I have been following the meal plan ( which was my struggle in previous attempts) and sticking to the workouts. Ive been lifting heavy for 5 months and haven’t done much cardio so i was tempted to skip phase one but i decided to do it all. i can’t do 3 rest days…I’m doing about 2 and training legs 2x a week. My fiancé is very supportive and helps me stay accountable. Stay tuned for progress and feelings on this program! First dress fitting is in a month!!

Shakeology 3 day cleanse results

Whoops! Time slipped by and I didn’t get a chance to post my cleanse results! My results were petty good but I knew I would gain some weight back, which is fine! Day one was the hardest. I was hungry and lacked a lot of energy. Day 2 and 3 were easy. The last meal was a salad with veggies and a lean protein. I looked forward to that meal like it was Thanksgiving dinner. By the end I the 3 days, I felt lean, light and full of energy. I am pretty please with my results. I will say since then I have gained back 3.5 lbs and no inches came back. I am at the weight I was before November started so overall, I am pleased!

Lately I have been focusing on lifting heavy (bulking?) so I might gain weight again but in February I am getting back on the cardio train!! Off to the gym now, have a great day!

Fresh start

Well the zucchini bread was a hit! Some people said they wanted something a little sweet but were not fans of pie really liked it! There were a few slices left which my fiancé and I finished off the next day.
It’s back to reality now. Back to work and normal food.
I decided to start this week off with a shakeology cleanse. I definitely had my fair share of pumpkin pies this weekend and really this whole month I have been tempted by dangerous foods. I need I get myself in check so I figure why better way than doing the cleanse.
It’s just 3 days so I figure it’s worth a try. I don’t feel I need to lose any weight or inches but people who have done this say it really helped them eat so much better when it was done.
I took my measurements last night and will take them again Thursday morning. I am sure once I go back to eating normal meals and carbs the weight will go back up a bit which is fine (I don’t need to lose weight). My hope is that the cravings for junk go away.
I will follow up later on how I am feeling and how it is going over the next few days! I love shakeology and I know it has amazing benefits so I am looking forward to the outcome 🙂

Recipe: Sweet Zucchini Bread

Ah…Thanksgiving.  I love this time of year and being surrounded by family…and best of all…FOOD!  However….thanksgiving can be dangerous!  I think people have the mentality that calories don’t count on this day. (I wish!)  I do plan to indulge a little.  And I don’t care what they say…you can be semi healthy on thanksgiving (Have the white meat, prep a plain sweet potato/bring a healthier sweet potato dish, plain green beans) Yeah, yeah…some relatives might think you are trying to kill them or think you are a weirdo if you bring your own little serving, but you got to do got you got to do.

Dessert is a dangerous thing.  I learned today that my most favorite pie ever; pecan, has the most calories and fat than any other pie!! (WAHHH) a slice of pecan has over 456 calories and 22 grams of fat.  The lesser of the 2 evils that I will probably reach for is Pumpkin pie with 323 calories per slice and 14 g of fat.

Okay…So now on to what I am making for my famlies. Sweet zucchini bread!  This stuff is delishious and satisfies the sweet tooth.  It’s also great for breakfast.  I adapted this recipe from SkinnyMs’s Blog!  Let me know if you try it!

Sweet Zucchini Bread

• 1 med zucchini-grated

• 1 tsp vanilla extract

• 1/2-1 cup stevia ( I like it sweeter)

• 2 egg whites

• 3 T coconut oil

• 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt (fat free)

• 1.5 C oat flour

• 1/4 t salt

• 1 t baking soda

• 1 T cinnamon

• (optional) 1/2 C coarsely chopped pecans

• A splash or 2 of unsweetened vanilla almond milk

Preheat oven to 325 °

Mix all ingredients in a large bowl (I just use a spoon and my arm but you could use a mixer… add the nuts after you mix)

Spray loaf pan with cooking oil and pour mixture into pan

Bake 50-55 minutes

Let cool and enjoy!!

Makes 8-10 slices

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Choosing the program

It just hit me today how freaking close this wedding is! (139 days…but who’s counting?) We have a lot done but I feel like so far to go!
I am usually pretty calm but I have a feeling anxiety will set in in about a month. It has also been getting colder so getting up early to go to the gym is getting way more difficult.
I have been thinking about doing an actual program to help keep accountable and on track. I am debating on doing Jamie Eason’s Live Fit trainer again or Body Beast by Beachbody. Both are 90 days so that would take me right up to the wedding if I start in January. I’m leaning toward Beast since it can be done at home (and we avid gym goers know how fun the gym is in the month of January…) plus in have been lifting heavy for the last few months anyways. Decisions, decisions.
I will probably end up picking Body Beast and will just go to then gym with my fiance on the weekends 🙂

I am also going to be making a healthy dish for Thanksgiving this year. I will be sharing that recipe soon!!
Have a great week!

Birthday weekend

This weekend was my birthday!! I had a great weekend but made several poor choices in my diet 😦

This is probably the worst in have been in a long time!!
Friday I went out to dinner and I thought I got a healthy meal (it said grilled chicken…) when it came it had a weird crispy layer on it. WAH. It’s not my style to send things back so I tried scraping it off the best I could.

Saturday I went to a wedding. Its a small town so healthy is not typically in the vocabulary where I come from! I did my best but I did taste some pecan pie. I also tasted the cake but it wasn’t amazing so I decided it wasn’t worth the calories.
BSunday was a bad bad bad day. I went to lunch with my
parents and had an egg white ommlette so that was not bad. For dinner we got chipotle and I always get brown rice chicken and chunky salsa. But then…I had frozen yogurt and a huge piece of birthday cake. I felt like total crap last night!

I am not going to let this weekend get to me. It WAS my birthday and I believe you do need to live a little on special occations. I don’t regret it!! I don’t think this weekend set me back in any way.

I am back on track today and have nothing that will keep me from staying on task until Thanksgiving. 🙂
